I just knew I wanted to do something that wasn't all about the rhythm, but was about a character.Agnieszkas Shoeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07831763071877082489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8020036606005757534.post-32529589605026032632010-05-22T12:59:36.783-07:002010-05-22T12:59:36.783-07:00I do love this poem with its urban beat.

I wanted it to be about London, too - that part just off Shaftesbury Avenue fascinates me - I come back to it again and again - the way you've got Chinatown one side, and Soho tother. There's a whole chapter about it in Songs. Jerry's and Foyles and Old Compton Street between is about as perefct a string of urban paradise as you could find. I can quite believe it's some kind of energising but enervating gyr that sucks in teenagers and only spits them out into the hearse, sometimes after 60 years; sometimes after 60 days.Agnieszkas Shoeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07831763071877082489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8020036606005757534.post-79140804475540120022010-05-21T20:24:21.197-07:002010-05-21T20:24:21.197-07:00Lawks! 'It was the way his T-shirt stayed angel-white in the citygrub and the way his tattoo moved but his teeth stayed still when he smiled' - what a line. Gutted I didn't write it myself. This poem feels like a new direction, the start of something bigger than you oo oo & I.<br />PennyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8020036606005757534.post-91744767117821874762010-05-21T15:50:20.653-07:002010-05-21T15:50:20.653-07:00Oh, I like this!Oh, I like this!Linda Austinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12440198392313322295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8020036606005757534.post-53753226252681466822010-05-21T15:09:25.940-07:002010-05-21T15:09:25.940-07:00Thank you.
